A Look into a Day at the Nix': Catching up still...

This will be the last post about our two week vacation together in July. We did a few more things then just Waikiki. We hiked Maunawalli Falls, Dole Plantation, and Polynesian Cultural Center.

Dole Plantation

While visiting the Dole Plantation we were able to ride a train through the fields, eat pineapple ice cream, and do the World's Largest Maze. The kids loved the train ride, but we were kinda disappointed. They don't do any manufacturing there at the plantation so it was quite boring to be honest. Elijah loved seeing all the pineapples and was super excited to see the banana trees. He keep telling me that I was tall enough to get him a banana and insisted I get off the train and get him one. The ice cream was pretty good. The Maze was neat, but it was way to hot. So if you come to visit us in Hawaii, I will suggest you skip the Dole Plantation unless you just want to stop in for some pineapple ice cream.

Maunawalli Falls

The great thing about Maunawalli Falls its pretty close to our house. It was very a beautiful hike that crossed many streams and view of the beautiful mountains. The kids hiked for 2 hours without any complaints, then we realized we ended up where we had started. This means we never made it to the Falls. :( At some point in the trail we circled around and didn't realize it. It was kinds disappointing, but it was all the same a beautiful hike. The trail isn't marked it just a well beaten path kinda. :)

Polynesian Cultural Center

The Polynesian Cultural Center was very interesting and fun. We first attended a Luau that was pretty good. We were on the end so we didn't get to see much of the show. The food was pretty good and the kids behaved pretty well. After the the Luau we just killed time walking around the villages and then ended up just kinda hanging out for a while. The show began and the kids did really great watching on the different cultures of Polynesia demonstrate their dances.
