A weekend of outdoor fun and the Hawaiian life!

The weather seriously had been amazing the last two weekends I hope the trend continues since we only have 3 weekends left on island. We finally hit this easy family friendly hike this weekend. Its called Kamehame Trail and is all paved and very similar in level of difficulty as the Mokapu Lighthouse hike. It isn't shaded so it left us all pretty hot and sweaty but none the less fun. If you do this hike make sure to bring sunscreen and water.

At the start of the trail head Noel thought she was tough enough for this hike, but soon found the hill the defeat her little legs. The other kids great with some whining and complaining of being hot, but honestly if you hit this hike around 8 or it would be a perfect time. Oh so we made it up the road and the pay off was this view. I think what struck me most on this hike was not only the view but the Hawaiian view on Ohana (family). I have several times now been on hikes and ran into big groups of Hawaiian families and friends hiking. Many are out of shape, but still smiling, laughing and cheering one another on. They have always greeted me and my family with large smiles and ahh on how great my little kids are at hiking. They always offer to take a picture and I couldn't be more pleased to have shared this island with many amazing Hawaiians.

The beginning of the trail. Nothing like teaching your kids a little bit about trespassing. Seriously no one takes those signs seriously in Hawaii.

A very determined 18 month old.

The pay off view!

Showing the kids where our house is over by the mountains.

Ava was very brave at the top and well.....

...Elijah was more reserved
Well Noel just hung out with me.

Rowan hitching a ride.
Down the hill we go.

Then today we hit Bellows one more time to body board. I got these two cute photos of the kids. LOVE THEM
Photographing one own children always proves difficult. Elijah refused to smile and Noel was kept running off. The was the best we could get. LOL
